A recent, readable article from MIT Technology Review forwarded from a colleague delves into the world of Jeff Hawkins, a neuroscientist and tech entrepreneur. Hawkins has straddled the two worlds of neuroscience and AI for nearly 40 years and thinks in the long term about heady stuff.
Hawkins is a big thinker and a big creator. “Instead of asking “What’s the use of building intelligent machines?” I ask “What’s the purpose of life?” We live in a huge universe in which we are little dots of nothing. I’ve had this question mark in my head since I was a little kid. Why do we care about anything? Why are we doing all this? What should our goal be as a species?”
How will your future self interact with AI to live and create your life’s purpose?
