Threads - the next Twitter?

I’m curious if this might be the true alternative Twitter. I’ll be honest (we’re friends here, right?) that I’ve been leaning towards dropping off, I’m not willing to be that angry all the time, my energy is better used elsewhere but the options have been small and limited so far. I think I have made this link to the WaPo article about the new “Threads” open to all, if not forgive my skills and I’ll look forward to your insights and opinions! https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2023/07/05/threads-meta-instagram-twitter-alternative/

I think it could definitely turn into an alternative to Twitter and I am here for it! Threads reminds me of Twitter’s early days.

I haven’t jumped into the Threads yet, sounds like you have @snsasser so can you share more of what you’re experiencing?

Or, is Threads Zuck’s way of “Microsoft-ing” Elon? As in, undercut with a similar product, run the other company out of business, and then snap up what’s left of the user list?

That’s an interesting idea/motive! Worth staying tuned in for!!

Hey Bill @WJRyan ,
I have been a faithful Twitter user since the beginning of it. I am not angry at all, and wonder what your anger is placed on? I have met so many professional people on Twitter, so I’m not seeing the same side you might be seeing? I will not be on Threads at this time b/c of time constraints. I choose to follow an some incredible people on X (Twitter). I believe they will be staying put at this time even though the X name is not as easy on the eyes as the bird was… If they sunset Twitter I will reluctantly move to Threads.

Sorry @Roxann if it came across as I am angry, I’m not. What I meant was many of the people who have appeared in my feed are rather angry (disclaimer - I like politics and do follow some people and groups so the new algorithm’s may have created this wave of new voices that I didn’t choose and some of those voices are not happy!). So, when I posed the question, I was just curious about other options and what folks might be seeing, trying, experiencing. I’m like you, still on the site formerly known as Twitter (@WmJRyan) and still following and learning from interesting people in different topic areas. And… still curious if some of the alternative platforms are worthy of deeper digging on my part. I promise my smiling face is still here!!
