Introduce yourself!

Welcome, @Lessa - The beauty of this “LX party” is that it’s always here - no start/end, so no worries!

Personally, I’m very interested in hearing and learning from your experiences. My confession - compliance is not my area of expertise, but others here can provide insights. What have you learned that works for your corporate community - perhaps gamification? Various ways to manifest? Top leaders showing their ways? Shoutouts?

Welcome Khaled (@KReda)! We’re glad you’re here. Fascinating that you made a switch from technical to L&D/HR. How does that background experience inform your work in L&D?

Thank you!!
I made the switch over 15 years ago, and in the Oil and Gas large organization context, it was actually quite good, as it allowed me to be effective AND have cred with my technical stakeholders as I was largely involved with managing technical L&D. I was also lucky being in multinationals as I got exposure to advanced HR practices and systems to save me from becoming just a niche specialist.

Hi
I’m about to start my first pure ID/L&D role for a global NGO. Excited and slightly terrified. I have 26y of HE teaching experience so no spring chicken. I’ve been a Moodle Administrator and created curricula throughout my career. I did a MicroMasters last year in Instructional Design and Technology and University of Maryland along with a LOT of other courses including the fabulous and inspirational LXD course on NovoEd.
I look forward to reading your stories and advice.

Hello! My name is Pauline, and I am currently an Instructional Designer. Most of my career has been spent in the happy space between graphic design, e-learning development, and employee engagement. I’m currently accepting applications for a new employer, and I’m hoping to find a company that actively contributes to social justice and equity around the world.

As to a topic I’m most passionate about… that’s tough. I’m almost always researching some random topic or another, usually in order to pick up a new random skill that struck my fancy.

Here’s my LinkedIn profile:

I’ve also got a work portfolio which includes a few fun courses (including an “escape game” style training built in Storyline) and a bunch of other random stuff. I’d love to get feedback if anyone would like to give me a professional portfolio review!

Nice to meet you all, and I’m looking forward to seeing where this community goes!

Hello! I’m Mary Nunn and I’ve been a curriculum designer and instructor in higher education for the last decade. I recently transitioned into L&D full-time, still in higher ed, and am super excited about this next chapter in my professional life. From what I see, the opportunities are limitless in jobs and projects based in facilitating organizational cultural change.

What I love most about this field is the opportunities to learn, grow, and think in systems. I have always been a “big thinker” and finally found a job that allows me to do just that EVERY DAY! I love developing active learning e-learning courses that provide a seamless learning experience for students and faculty. I really look forward to networking with like-minded professionals!

Feel free to view my Linked In profile to learn more about me.
